Bryn Athyn Orchestra Young Artist Competition 2015
Bryn Athyn Orchestra introduced a new Young Artist Competition in 2015. This annual competition offers one winner the opportunity to appear as a soloist with the Bryn Athyn Orchestra as part of one regularly scheduled concert during the following season.
The orchestra currently consists of approximately 50 dedicated musicians from the greater Philadelphia area and is under the baton of Dan Kujala. Mr. Kujala is a teacher, an active soloist, chamber musician and a section leader of the Warminster Symphony Orchestra.
The Bryn Athyn Orchestra Young Artists Competition is open to instrumentalists in grades 9-12 or who will be no more than 18 years of age on the competition date. Students who are attending a college level music conservatory are not eligible to apply. Applicants must reside in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery or Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania; or Burlington, Camden, Gloucester or Mercer Counties in New Jersey. First place winners may not enter the competition in subsequent years.

One first place winner will receive a monetary prize of $500, payable on performance with the orchestra. The winner must be available to rehearse and perform with the Bryn Athyn Orchestra during a regularly scheduled concert in the next concert season at the discretion of the Music Director. If the chosen winner is unavailable to perform, a runner-up may be advanced.
Qualifications and Guidelines
Auditions were held on Saturday April 18, 2015. Audition times were offered between 11am and 3pm. All applicants were notified of their audition time by April 11, 2015.
Judges will be professional musicians. Judges comments will be sent to every participant following the competition. The decision of the judges is final.
